This time our program features an interview with violin player Ricardo Herz and selections from his newly re-released CD “Violino Popular Brasileiro.” The classically-trained Herz, who also studied jazz at the prestigious Berklee College of Music in Boston, won the “popular jury” Visa Prize for Brazilian Music in 2004. His repertoire ranges from Northeastern rhythms to choro and even samba funk.
In addition to cuts from his CD, the program includes a live “authorized pirate” version of Herz and his band playing Ponteiro in a pocket show at the Fnac Bookstore coffee shop in the Morumbi Shopping Mall in São Paulo. Special thanks to the folks at the Ibirapuera Auditorium, where we first saw Herz in action.
The program was produced by Flávio Kranic.
