AULA RECITAL: A sonoridade de Gershwin -c/ CLIFF KORMAN Lecture Recital-The Sound of Gershwin w/Cliff Korman Esta aula/recital revela a criação transcultural e musical de George Gershwin. Suas afinidades com a música americana popular e folclórica do anos 20 e 30 e com a estética das minorias segregadas produziram preciosidades musicais como "Rhapsody in Blue", "Porgy and Bess", "Three Piano Preludes" e inumeráveis canções para teatro e filmes. Embora o próprio Gershwin não se declarasse um jazzman, composições suas como "I've Got Rhythm", "Lady Be Good" e "Embraceable You" tornaram-se standards da música americana contemporânea e suscitam arranjos e improvisações de músicos e jazzistas em todo o mundo. This presentation considers pianist/composer George Gershwin's work in relation to the Harlem Renaissance, Tin Pan Alley, and the Yiddish and Broadway theatre worlds of the early 20th century. His work represents the optimism and spirit of the time period as he attempted to reflect the transcultural nature of the imagined "melting pot" Price: Entrada franca-Free!
