Hi!
Well Manaus actually is not the best place to serach for a job in Brazil, especially not for foreigners. In terms of jobopportunities the best place would be SÃO PAULO, but only if you are highly qualified, finished college or university and you are fluent in Portugese! Being fluent in the language is most important. Beside that you need good contacts to people who can help you getting a job. A Brazilian saying goes like this :"Itīs not important what you know, itīs important WHO you know!"
Here is a LINK to a page listing some job agencies for Brazil on the internet:

GOOD LUCK!

It is quite easy to find jobs in English lenguage scools if you have a degree. Also you can find work as guide (R$40-80 per day) or maybe with a tour operator. If you have money to invest you can buy a small jungle lodge for 50K or open a small business. Best, Franco Russo www.fortalezainvest.com
