The Anglo-American Group of Provence (AAGP) Luncheon Forum will host freelance journalist and photographer, Bill Hinchberger, for a round table discussion on journalism and communications in the electronic age. The luncheon which will be held on October 14th at a place to be confirmed, marks the resumption of the AAGP's monthly Luncheon Forum and will be co-hosted by the Club du 7ème Etage.
Bill Hinchberger a native Californian and graduate of UC Berkeley with a Masters degree in Latin American studies is a freelance journalist operating out of Marseille. Following several extended reporting trips in Central America in the early 1980s at the height of the Nicaraguan Civil War, Bill went to Brazil, where he remained for over two decades covering all aspects of society, notably business and economic issues for the Financial Times and Business Week, while also working as an art critic for ARTnews magazine.
While in Brazil, Hinchberger founded BrazilMax a leading, English-language online travel guide for native English speakers living in or traveling to Brazil (www.brazilmax.com). He served as President of the São Paulo Foreign Correspondents' Club and added a number of prestigious clients to his consulting roster, including such organizations as the World Wildlife Fund, the World Economic Forum (Davos), the Commission of the European Union, the International Trade Center, the World Conservation Union the European Science Foundation and the Global Greengrants Fund, among others. In 2008, Bill relocated to Marseille as Director of Communications and External Relations for the Marseilles-based World Water Council. He spearheaded the effort that resulted in unprecedented coverage of the World Water Forum in Istanbul in March. Bill left the WWC after Istanbul, but he is following developments as Marseille prepares to host the next edition of the event in 2012.
On the lighter side, Bill is a competitive basketball player always open for a game of local pick-up and looking for opportunities to practice his French. An adoptive Brazilian, Bill has traveled extensively throughout the Americas, Europe and elsewhere (25 countries as of last count) and is always on the lookout for new and challenging assignments.
The luncheon will be held on Wednesday, October 14th at a downtown Aix location to be notified as a result of the number of confirmed reservations. Cost for the luncheon will not exceed 25€. The luncheon is open to AAGP members and friends regardless of club membership.
